Abdel Mawla Al-Solh

Abdel Mawla Al-Solh began his journey with Mouvement Social in 1968 as a volunteer in the Saida branch alongside Father Bishop Salim Ghazal and the Ghazieh branch, responding to the call of Bishop Grégoire Haddad.

In 1972, he was appointed Social Affairs Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office during Takieddine Al-Solh's tenure. In 1974, he moved to Geneva, where he successfully passed the United Nations selection process, leading to his appointment as Deputy Regional Representative of the UNHCR for Lebanon and the Middle East. In this role, he worked to secure humanitarian and medical aid for immigrants in Lebanon in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs.

He continued his career with the United Nations for several years, alternating between Geneva and Beirut, where he took on responsibilities within the Middle East Department. Upon completing his tenure in Lebanon, he was honored by the Lebanese government with the National Order of the Cedar (Officer rank) in recognition of his efforts. Later, he was appointed as the Head of the UNHCR Mission in Cairo with diplomatic status and was entrusted with diplomatic assignments in multiple countries.

He later returned to Lebanon to resume his work with Mouvement Social, where he was elected a member of the Executive Office for multiple terms. Currently, he represents MS before Lebanese authorities, working to strengthen its role, modernize its systems to align with evolving social work practices, and reaffirm the core principles established by its founder, Bishop Grégoire Haddad
